Ginette Krausz
Ginette was born in 1929 into a Jewish family of Polish origin. She grew up in Paris with her parents, her sister, and her younger brother, and had a happy early childhood. The war changed everything. Her father was arrested in 1941, and her sister was deported to Auschwitz. Ginette tried to flee to the Free Zone with her mother and brother before being arrested herself.
Deported to Auschwitz on April 13, 1944, she escaped selection by saying she was eighteen years old, although she was only fourteen. “It simply wasn’t my time,” she says. [...+]
